Happy New Year

I made a quick trip to Brantford yesterday for the stitching sisters off night and sat around Jayne's big table. It was nice to see the woman as I haven't been done for awhile but the weather was great yesterday. I always enjoy seeing what everyone is working on and getting new ideas (not that I need to add anymore to my list). Jayne and I made a quick trip to the enabler and I picked up some material so that should keep me going for awhile if I get snowed in up here. I didn't spend Thursday stitching with Jayne which was unusual but went to Hamilton to see my son who had the week off. It was nice to spend the day with him but I missed stitching with Jayne.
I want to wish everyone a Happy New year and looking forward to a new year of stitching.
P.S. Thanks for fixing my picture

Merry Christmas

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year. Our Christmas was great with all the kids showing  up and the 6 dogs. Everyone had lots of food and lots of laughter. My hubby was very surprised to see his snowy owl which I managed to stitch when he was at work. I already have new projects lined up for the new year. Weather permitting I may head to Brantford on Wednesday in my car cause no I did not get that snowmobile for Christmas.

Sorry I don't know how to flip this picture around.

Ready for Christmas

Well! I haven't blogged for awhile cause I have been very busy getting ready for Xmas. The baking is finally done and I won't even list how much I have made cause some people would think I was just crazy. I believe there is nothing better than getting a home made gift sometimes . The presents are wrapped and under the tree and now I just have to wait five more days for everyone to come home. Did I mention there is 10 people coming and we will have 6 dogs. Yes everyone brings their dogs. This week is just clean up and then sit down and enjoy my company and a good drink.

Baking Weekend

I didn't get much stitching done this weekend as it was a baking weekend. You now have to bake for Christmas on weekends when the electricity doesn't cost you as much. So I made 120 oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, 120 peanut butter cookies, 16 mini loaves of banana bread, 16 min loaves of pumpkin bread and  2 apple pies.I have not got the short bread done yet or more turtles but I still have less than 2 weeks. Believe it or not these bake goods are all accounted to go somewhere. So maybe I will get to stitch sometime this week.

Ten Tenors

Hubby and I had tickets at Casino Rama on Saturday night to see Ten Tenors. It was very enjoyable and they have amazing voices. They sang some Christmas carols and some Meatloaf. It was very good and a different type of concert for me cause we usually go up to see bands. Needless to say I had no luck at the slot machine before we went into the show.
We now have snow in Barrie but still not as bad as other places in the USA.  I am off tomorrow to pick up 3 frames to frame some things I just finished and hope to have framed tomorrow. Will try and post a picture soon.

Christmas party

I am back from Brantford and I had a good time. On the Tuesday night I attended a Tupperware party and I haven't been to one of those in about 20 years. The funny thing is some of the things in my cupboard are still in the Tupperware catalogue and I still use them. Jayne and I made a trip to a nice store where I got a beautiful little bear ornament.
On Wednesday Jayne and I sat around the big old table and stitched. I managed to finish a Xmas project but can not post a picture until after Xmas. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant and great fun seeing all the stitching sisters. I probably won't see the ladies until maybe January being busy with Xmas and all. I did like Kerri's idea of getting a snowmobile and driving it down.
I am working on a couple of little projects on the weekend so I hope to post a picture next week.

Finished Bears

My SIL lent me this pattern of black bears which I think matches my bear quilt so I have been working on this the last two weeks and it will hang in my bedroom.
It is going to be a busy week as I am off to Brantford for a Tupperware party and a Xmas dinner.

Nascar

Usually on Sunday I watch the Nascar race and stitch the whole time it is on which takes about 4 hours. This is all fine except this Sunday is the last race of the year until February of next year. I will find it very hard on Sunday's now with no race to watch. It is a wonderful way to stitch the afternoon away.

Black Bears

Well! I made another quick trip to Brantford and say the stitching sisters on Wednasday night . You get alot of wonderful ideas when with these ladies. My SIL (Jayne) had a wonderful little pattern with black bears on it  so I borrowed it. My DH has been sick with a cold for the last week and needless to say I now have it. Today cause I feel bad I couldn't resist to start the bear project seeing how I don't feel like doing much today. So hopefully I will have these little bears done in a week and will be able to put it in my bedroom to go with my quilt.

My hubby bought me a new quilt on Saturday that I just love so needless to say I am redecorating our master bedroom. Thought this would be a good project before Xmas. So today is painting the walls.I am painting the walls burgundy which will make a dark room but that is good for sleeping.

Movie Night

I didn't get to go to Brantford this week but Hubby and I went to a movie last night. We saw Red and it was really good with lots of action and very funny.
I thought I would post a recent picture of my Santa as I am finished page 1 and working on page 2 now. The tree is starting to come together and who knew the tree would be black not green. I want to get to page 3 cause then Santa's head will start coming into the picture.

Quick Trip to Brantford

It was quite a day on Saturday as we made a quick trip to Cambridge, Brantford and Hamilton. Yes I was in Brantford again on Saturday cause my hubby wanted to visit his sister and see the kitchen progress. I didn't get to do any stitching on Saturday with Jayne so that was different. I have been making wine so tonight I have to bottle it and get it ready for Xmas. I am off to Newmarket so my mom can get a test and maybe I can get some stitching done while I wait for her.

Kitchen Help

On Monday night I headed to Hamilton to spend some quality time with my son. We had a good time yakking then in the morning off to Brantford to Jayne's. We had a kitchen to get ready for cupboards. Needles to say after a couple of days we had the walls washed, plastered and painted. The walls are ready now for her new cupboards. We had a good time doing it and I got to go to the stitching sisters Wednesday night which was great fun. I really enjoy seeing what everyone is working on and getting new ideas. I have started working on a Guiding Angel  and it is beautiful. Will post a picture when it is done. Trina did not want this and she was nice enough to give it to me. Wow two weeks in a row down in Brantford but I don't think I will make it next week or I have no good excuse to go down yet.

Ready for Winter

On the weekend my hubby and I got our back yard ready for winter. We have the screened in porch away and all the lawn furniture. The back yard looks bare now and ready for that white stuff.
Yesterday I did manage to sit down and stitch on Winters Nap yahoo. This one is going to take awhile but I do like seeing things come together.

Company Gone Home

We all had a great Thanksgiving and the kids came and went. It was really good to see them and as usual hated to see them go again. Dinner worked out great and all 5 dogs behaved very well. Some people have grandchildren but we have dogs for now.
My aunt and uncle left on Friday and we had a great time doing the tourist things with them. The time went very fast and hated to see them go. We will go down and see them in the summer. My uncle helped me to start a batch of red wine so I am working on that also.
The week was very enjoyable but I didn't stitch one stitch so hopefully I will get back to it this week.

Off to Airport

I am off to the airport to pick up my aunt and uncle but I just wanted to post my progress on A Long Winters Nap. I started this yesterday and I am so excited about this one. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I don't have any Xmas cross stitch pieces so I am sure this will be the first of many, all going well.

Started a Long Winters Nap

Last night I started another project which was my Long Winters Nap. It has more bright colors than all of the browns that are in the owl. I just couldn't wait to get this one started.
My company start arriving tomorrow so I probably won't be blogging for a week and I won't get a lot of stitching done.

Company Coming

Been very busy lately cause I have an aunt and uncle from New Brunswick coming on Thursday. It will be very good to see them and get to visit for a week. We will do the tourist thing and show them around. My kids are coming up on the weekend Yahoo. I don't get to see the kids much cause everyone is working.

For Thanksgiving I have at last count 13 people and 5 dogs. The people aren't a problem it is just keeping track of the dogs. We have a small house but we manage. My sister and her family are coming so it should be a great time. Needless to say I haven't been able to get alot of stitching done.

Update Keeping Watch

I have updated my Keeping Watch but it is taking me awhile to do page 2 and still working on it. I am now into confetti stitches. I haven't had much time to stitch lately but a little bit at night. Some stitching is better than no stitching.

I didn't get much stitching done yesterday but now that it is raining I will today.

You Know You Are Old When

We had a wonderful Friday night. My son called and asked what we were doing Friday night. We had tickets to see Diana Ross. He said that is great mom and have a good time watching who ever Diana Ross is. So that mad me feel old but her voice was still great for an older woman and it was a great show.

I stained the top part of my deck on Saturday and then ran out of stain. So off to Lowe's to get another can. I just finished the bottom part of the deck and wouldn't you know it, it started to rain. In the morning the top part had dried but the bottom had all ran off because of the rain. A waste of a whole can of stain so off to Lowe's again to get another can. I did managed to get it restained yesterday and it is done. Have a sore arm today but the deck is finished.

Needless to say I didn't get alot of stitching done on the weekend but maybe some later today cause I am not painting today and my arm soreness will not affect stitching.

Eagle done

On Wednesday I made a trip to Brantford to sit around Jayne's big table and stitch. It was very nice to see some of the stitching sisters which I haven't seen for awhile. I worked on  a small project that I finished and I will go get a frame for it today. Jayne was great to stretch and frame my eagle for me. Had a great time away and maybe I will do it again soon.
Well! The eagle is finally finished and it will be going to my daughters fiance for Xmas. It took awhile to do this but I am really glad it is done and now I can work on my owl.

On Friday night we made a trip to Hamilton to drop some things off at my sons.  Jayne met us in Hamilton and we had a great visit. I showed her my eagle I was not happy with the back stitching. In the kit it called for a certain colour and it just didn't look right to me. Jayne agreed with me so she is going to change it and fix it for me. Yahoo Jayne. As far as I am concerned the eagle is done and I will post a picture of it soon all framed. I am now working on my first big project with 16 pages and I have never done anything like this before but I am sure it will be fine just take longer.

I have to take my mother to the doctor on Wednesday morning but then I am hoping to head to Brantford to the stitching sisters cross stitch night. Hope to see all that can come on Wednesday.

Nice Weekend

I haven't blogged for awhile as I have been busy running around doing errands. I got rid of my cold but I just have a stubborn cough now. We have been busy this week cleaning up our condo which we just rented out to 3 students for 2 years. I am so pleased that it is rented out for 2 years so that project is now looking after itself. I have two box spring and mattresses that I have to take down to my son in Hamilton this weekend so I am hoping the rain will stop on Saturday.

Yesterday I picked up my frame and mat for the eagle. Yes I just have the back stitching left to do and then wash and frame it and it is done yahooooo. I will post a picture as soon as it is framed . I am so looking forward to starting my owl.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend

I Hate Being Sick

We had a great weekend but on Sunday night I had a sore throat. Sure enough yesterday runny nose and all those wonderful things. Spent most of the time in bed and today is much better but my head still feels really bad. I can't concentrate on stitching when my head can't think to count.

Yesterday I did go for a job interview and got the job and this morning I was suppose to go for orientation but I had a fever and couldn't get out of bed. So as fast as I got the job, I lost the job this morning.

Maybe my head will clear by tonight and i can stitch.

Casino Rama Tickets

I mad my annual trek to The Ex and with a lot of walking (7200 steps) saw all the crafts and gadgets that there was to offer. It was a great day and as we wee finishing up to go home it started to rain so all was well. I did purchase a couple of small Xmas presents and had a wonderful time with my daughter and fiancee.

We don't live to far from Casino Rama so last night we had free tickets to Bachman & Turner and it was a good concert. Tonight we are off to see Randy Travis. I even managed to stay away from the slot machines last night and didn't waste my money.

Hope every one has a great weekend.

I did make a trip down to Newmarket on Saturday as my niece got a new puppy. I love dogs so I could not wait to go see it. He is only 8 weeks old and so cute. This will be good therapy for my niece.

Fortunate Cross Stitcher

I am a very fortunate person as of 30 years ago this month I received as a wedding gift this sampler from my SNL Jayne. This was my first piece of cross stitch and it has hung on my wall all that time. I have always loved this one and like how the S's go around the border and my birds at the bottom. I was introduced to cross stitch by Jayne and Marjorie and I did a few pieces in the beginning but then I had 2 wonderful kids. Cross stitch got put on the back burners for a few years but I have picked it up again lately. The kids have moved on with their lives and I have more time on my hands as I an not employed right now. I enjoy nothing more than sitting on the front porch and stitching. I have a great hubby who has no problem with me stitching all my spare time as he had a mother (Marjorie) who did this also.

I feel very fortunate that I have a great SNL who helps me with all my cross stitching questions and we have enjoyed many years of laughter and fun. I'm also very happy that I have been married to a great guy for the last 30 years who is very understanding and loving .So Below is a picture of my sampler from a special SNL.

Well off to my porch now.

Hi
Well this is my first real attempt at creating a blog. This is a project I started a couple of weeks ago and it is finished and framed and ready for Xmas for my niece. One of the stitching sisters was good enough to lend me this graph as my niece's favorite bird is a robin. I am pleased this one is done cause it took me away from the eagle I am doing for awhile. I will post a picture of the eagle if it ever gets done . I have been working on this eagle since May and just can't seem to get it finished.
